All teams must designate their keepers by the date posted on the league draft schedules. They can be changed, added, or removed at any time prior to the posted date and time. Players cannot be added to the declared keepers after the deadline, but teams can continue to drop players for at least ten minutes after the last keeper designation was made. That is, if the deadline is 9:00 and a team declares at 8:59, then all teams have until 9:09 to release players from their declared keepers. This will continue until there is a ten minute period with no declarations, and then all declarations are closed.
In the six and eight keeper leagues, you may declare up to 3 RB, 3 WR, or 2 at any other position. Keepers will have a contract period of five years in the six and eight keeper leagues. Players can be kept beyond the contract period at the cost of one extra keeper each, but they will only count as one towards positional limits;i.e 2 RBs in 6th year count as 4 keepers but only as 2 RBs. Keeping 3 keepers beyond the contract period would cost three additioanl keepers. Contract years will be carried along with any traded players. A player in his third year will still be in his 3rd year if you acquire him in a trade.
Prior to the draft, teams keeping fewer than allocated number of
keepers may receive one free agent pick according to the table below.
No team may pick a free agent that was on his team's keeper eligible
list unless that player's contract had expired. All free agents will
have a 3 year contract instead of the 5 year contract for drafted
players. (All contracts will appear as 5 year contracts on keeper
eligible pages, but FAs will start in 3rd year.) Extra first round
draft picks will count against a team's number of keepers in
determining free agent draft eligibility. (This is to keep a team from
trading off keepers for draft selections and then tryng to get a free
agent.) The free agent pool will include any players from the previous
player pool (including those who did not play in the NFL the prior
season) but will not include rookies. The league commissioner can also
allocate special case free agent allowances (eg; a team's top 2 RBs
were injurred for season or retired unexpectedly), but never more than
one for two vacant keeper slots. In addition, the commissioner can
allocate as many free agents or supplemental picks as deemed necessary
to sell a vacant team. The free agent draft order will be determined by
a random draw specific for the free agent draft only. No team will get
a second free agent prior to all other teams' getting their first in
any league with six or more keepers. Any traded draft rights will not
apply
to these selections.

Any draft rights that were previously traded the prior season will be for the normal drafting position and not any free agent selections or supplemental draft picks. If a team traded for another team's 4th round pick which may have be 4.10 but was moved to 5.02 due to supplemental picks, the 4th round pick traded would be selection 5.02. The free agent and supplemental draft selections can be traded after keeper designations are finalized.
